Even Great Quarterbacks’ need Drug Rehab Centers

Erik Ainge, the New York Jets quarterback and nephew of the Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge, has entered a New York drug rehab facility after a relapse. Erik’s family released a statement in response to all the reports of his alleged stints at drug rehab centers . His parents wanted Erik to know just how proud they are of their son for getting the help he needs in order to stay off drugs. They will stand by their son and love him unconditionally. In return, Erik made a statement via Twitter thanking his folks for all their love, thoughts and concerns. Plus, he will be taking some personal time to address a non-football related illness.

Ainge was a former Glencoe High School multisport star, and then graduated from Tennessee where he had a roller-coaster career as the Tennessee Volunteers quarterback. The New York Jet selected him by the 5th round in 2008.

If Erik Ainge makes the Jets’ roster; he’ll likely be subjected to an 8-game suspension because of his 1st offense for anabolic steroid use in 2008; he was originally suspended for 4 games after he was caught using the performance-enhancing drugs. He has been playing for the New York Jets for 4 years, but this year he’ll be placed on the reserve/non-football illness list before training camp begins.
